G'day Friends!

Tom Wilson, Manager of The Hen House here!

I hope everyone is doin' super well as we officially roll into Spring and can enjoy some nicer weather, outdoor shows and more time to work on fun creative ventures.

We're always keeping busy down here at the studios, so scroll on down to check out some Hen House updates along with some other interesting reds I've rounded up for you all.

Kublai Khan (TX) dropped in this week ahead of their tour with Polaris!

Hen House Says Goodbye To Alex!

This week we said a huge farewell to one of our legendary staff, Mr Alex Agnew! Alex has been with us for almost 4 years now, helping bands and creatives alike down here at the studios. You may have also seen him play with his killer band The Faux. He’s now off to London to give the other side of the globe a crack!
We wish you all the best mate!

National Live Music Awards Nominees

This week at Bigsound, the nominees for the National Live Music Awards were announced, to be returning on October 11 after a 2-year hiatus. Congratulations to our mates Tashi Hall (Best Live Photographer), Voyager (Best Heavy Metal Act), Sly Withers (Best Punk Act) and Dulcie (Best Live Act WA). Voting in the public categories – Best Live Act, Voice, Event, and Venue is now open via the NLMAs website. You can read more here

The Hen House on SoundCloud

You may have seen last week that we have a couple of killer playlist on Spotify, one for all the amazing bands we've had rehearsing with us over the years, and one for some of the great Podcasts we've seen come out of the studios in the past couple of years. But what about our DJs and Producers! We know you all live over on Soundcloud, so we've joined in! Be sure to follow us and send us anything you've been up to here at the studios - whether it's a new beat or a fresh mix, we are always keen to hear it and chuck it on our playlists! You can check us out here

Gangs Use Spotify to Launder Money

Trust the smart criminals to actually find a way to make money on Spotify! Recent studies in Sweden have shown that criminals have been able to use Spotify and its royalty payment system to launder money made through crime, and have been doing so for a number of years. By trading money for bitcoin, they can then invest that crypt to buy fake streams for an artist (usually affiliated with the gang) to then cash out in royalty payments. It's a pretty interesting read if you want to check it out here

Well friends, that's me for this week!
Stay safe and have a yourself lovely weekend,
Tom

We're always looking to expand The Hen House community, we have 17 amazing rooms in Osborne Park and would love to have your band rehearsing with us down at the studio.
