There's been some pretty strong indications recently that Spotify will soon be launching a $30 per month platinum service! According to this article, the new tier will include HiFi audio, in addition to a “Headphone Tuner” and “Audio Insights”, as well as “Library Pro” and ‘Playlist Pro”, plus “Limited-ad Spotify podcasts”. HiFi audio has always been demanded of streaming services, with the challenge of how to provide this without wasting mobile data. Will be interesting to see the rollout if true!   Touring Is Harder Than Ever! If you've ever hit the road with your band before, you'll know it's a bit of a slog! From flights, to car hire, Ubers, freight, hotels - it's no cost friendly feat! Well unfortunately this is even worse post pandemic, with prices for most things listed above doubling, festivals being axed, and low ticket sales - it's no wonder tours are being called off left right and centre. You've probably seen artists like Santigold, Gang of Youths, Stormzy, Northlane and Parkway Drive cancelling tours recently, and this great article here helps explain why!   Worlds Greatest Managers - Benjamin Evans I've been loosely following this Greatest Managers series, interviewing the best artist managers in the global business. This one here is a great one for all Aussie bands to read! Benjamin Evans, manager of Australian guitar-pop phenomenon, 5 Seconds of Summer, talks about his history with the group, including the recent break and reunion, his time at Modest!, why 5SOS aren’t a boy band and much more. Check it out here! Rick Rubin Podcast! I think it's fair to say that Rick Rubin needs little to no introduction when it comes to his influence and involvement in the music industry. From working with Red Hot Chilli Peppers, Public Enemy, The Cult, Danzig, Kanye West, The Beastie Boys, Black Sabbath, Johnny Cash, co-founding Def Jam Recordings, and heading  American Recordings - the man has done it all.
