Accurate song credits incoming! Björn Ulvaeus of ABBA has teamed up with fellow Swedish producer/songwriters Max Martin and Niclas Molinder to develop technology that aims to combat inadequate creator data collection via their startup, Session. In March, they launched the free data tool called which at the time, had already secured over $1.3 million in funding from Spotify, YouTube, ProTools-maker Avid and Universal Music Group Session Studio is embedded within Digital Audio Workstations (DAWs) to capture song information and data at the point of creation, in order to properly capture song creation data. Each year, royalties worth an estimated $655 million globally are not paid to the correct rightsholders due to bad data. I've you've been following the mailout, you'd know not long ago I linked an article about tips that TikTok had filed rights to become a streaming service. Well now there are hints they'll be becoming a record label! They recently advertised for 'A&R Roles', something very akin to a record label.  According to the job descriptions for these A&R roles, the hired will need to ensure that artists see ByteDance (TikTok Parent Company) as the #1 partner for artist development, promotion and monetisation, focusing on the US music landscape, signing and developing artists within the independent music community.
