WAMFEST and Conference!

Having run annually for over 16 years, WAMCon has firmly established itself as the leading opportunity for WA artists and industry representatives to progress their careers and learn, engage and interact with the broader music sector. The two-day conference features a full line-up of local, national and international industry representatives sharing their expert insights across a program of panels, presentations and networking opportunities targeted to the needs of the WA sector. You can check out the full list of speakers here - and be sure to keep an eye out for the festival line up dropping soon!

Last Shows at Badlands

I'm sure you're all as bummed about Badlands closing as I am, but like me I'm sure you want to get in and catch one more show there before they shut the doors!  What’s a farewell to a music venue without a goodbye concert? On Saturday, 25 and Sunday, 26 November, Badlands Bar will host two gigs headlined by the one and only Regurgitator, with supports from Turnstyle and Last Quokka. Click here for more info and be sure to follow Badlands for any more final gigs!

Independent Live Venues Alliance

A group of venues in South Australia have banded together to form the country’s first Independent Live Venues Alliance (ILVA). As explained in a press release, the grassroots initiative seeks to incorporate collaborative strategies and awareness campaigns to contribute to a thriving and sustainable original live music ecosystem in Australia.

ILVA have already won the support of the SA government, having secured funding from its bespoke Music Development Office to launch the inaugural Everyday Festival. Named to champion the “everyday” of SA’s live music venues. Hopefully there's more to come for other states - as these initiatives are vital! You can read more here

Spotify Patent 'Digital Mixtape' Function

For anyone who remembers making mixtapes and dubbing your voice over the top your friends - we'll you'll be pleased to know Spotify remembers as well. They've just patented the design for their own 'Digital Mixtape' function, allowing users to create a mix of selected songs, and then insert their own voice recordings over the top and in between tracks. You can essentially start a radio show as well! Pretty cool, you can read more about it here

Well friends, that's me for this week!
Stay safe and have a yourself lovely weekend,
Tom
