Tom Wilson, Manager of The Hen House here, hoping you're all knuckling down on your respective creative projects for this second half of the year! 2 weeks of winter left and we should be through the worst of it! Hopefully you've got a cold or flu out of the way, so it's smooth sailing for gigs and events for the rest of the year. Drake Tops The Beatles I don't know if anyone saw this coming, but Drake has smashed out a record that The Beatles have held for the past 55 years, now holding the title for most top 5 hits to enter the Billboard Top 100, hitting 30 songs to beat 29 previously held by Paul and the gang. Drake also holds the record for the most top 10's, 20's and 40's, as well as most songs (277) to enter the 100, in the 64 years the Billboard has been established. Pretty impressive feat! You can read more here Fresh Tunes From Hen House Bands! Always love seeing a fresh batch of tunes that have been cooked up here at the studio make their way out in to the big wide world! Here's some of my favourites that have dropped recently! Our buds Sly Withers just dropped the second single off their upcoming Sophomore album, entitled 'Radio', and that's exactly where it belongs! Party rockers The Mess Around dropped another weekend anthem 'Still Broke', while post rock pop heroes Tamala Park Book Club released their new windows down banger 'Cut My Teeth'. And to top it off, my favourite has to be this absolute thrash-fest from the heavy legends in Remission, 'Hellfire' - love this song. This is a question I get asked quite a bit here at the studio, but unfortunately I never quite have the answers! Backing tracks and click tracks used live are becoming more and more common these days, with a lot of guitarists also running digital amps and feeding through in ear monitors. The backbone of any band (typically the drummer...) will have a click track in their ears, keeping the tempo for the band, and start/stopping any backing tracks for the show, typically with an SPD or a laptop. But there's a million ways you can do it! So check out this great article here, which explains every single way you can set this up for your next live show!
